There are two types of strength that every ninja works on: the inner and outer strength. The outer, physical strength is more obvious. It can be empowered by physical training, but with time it fades away as our body becomes older and weaker. The inner strength is subtle and cannot be perceived. Not only ninjas work on their inner strength, but every great man endeavors to improve it. The inner strength is by far more powerful but it must be developed with perpetual practice and study.
The life force of the universe is called Qi (Chi or Ki in Japenese) and it surrounds everything, it flows through, within and around all things. With practice it can be cultivated and collected to circulate within the body and then expressed in different ways on your will. People that know the true Qi are rare. The Qi cannot be described or put into words. It can only be experienced and this practice is called Kuji Kiri or Nine cuts.
As any path to enlightenment, its purpose is to show to the student his true face.
One can accomplish that with meditation. The meditation quiets the mind. Our perception of reality is filtered with our preconceptions and displayed on the pool of our mind. Thoughts running through our mind make the surface of the pool wavy and this block us from seeing the things as they really are. The purpose of the meditation is to calm the waters of this pool so we could see ourselves and the world more clearly.
The secret behind meditation is regular practice and patience. One should not rush with the meditation or expect immediate results. If practiced daily, progress would be visible.
Slowly, over time one could become aware of subtle sounds and movements, like his perception expanded, and a feeling of lightness.
It is best to practice meditation twice a day, early in the morning after one wakes up, and before going to bed. The place where you meditate should be quiet, dark, comfortable and there shouldn’t be any distractions.
The key to proper mediation is controlling your breathing. Breathe slowly and raise awareness over your breathing.
The purpose of this training is to calm the mind, raise awareness, improve oneself to be in the flow with the universe and heal your body.
Learn to meditate properly, by sitting quietly and listening to yourself breathe. This is one of the first steps in understanding the ninja’s mind powers.
